- Really stupid list of questions, but I'm new still so go easy on me please! I am still waiting for the onyx/driftwood to hit tmobile and just have some general blackberry OS questions.
1. Does blackberry have push IM like sidekicks do?
2. Do blackberrys render web pages well? i.e. like a g1 or iphone would?
3. Do the calander and other apps work with each other? Like if there is a phone number in the browser, can I select it to call that number? Or can click on a link for a map and have it open google maps?
4. Really stupid question, but do blackberrys have google maps?
5. What app will enable me to do threaded texting?
6. Do blackberrys have a dedicated youtube player?
7. Can someone with tmobile tell if the blackberry support is any good?
thanks guys! sorry if these questions have been answered thousands of times, but I did search before I posted and didn't quite find what I was looking for!06-12-09 04:01 AMLike 0 - 1. It's not natively built-in, but there are a few apps out there such as BeeJive and IM+ that offer reallllllly good IM clients that are instant. The only downside is that they aren't free, but they are worth it. Luckily they both have free trials so you can see if you feel they are worth the price. Also, the free AIM app from RIM is well, free, it doesn't do as great a job as you'd find on a Sidekick, but it does a pretty great job IMO. I've found it to be almost instant like on a computer.
2. Yes, BlackBerry's current offerings do an excellent job and you can expect the Onyx to do even better.
3. I'm not sure about the browser, but in other apps like messages, if theres a number or email, you can select it and choose to email it or call it, etc.
4. It's not pre-installed like on an iPhone, but yes Google does have a Maps app for BB's.
5. Take a look at 3jam.
6. I know the Storm has a YouTube app (again, not preinstalled), I'm not sure about the other models.
7. I don't have T-Mobile but I have a Curve from T-Mobile (traded my 8800 for my friend's 8320) so if I ever have any issues my friend gave me his account info so I could call in. I'm going to be getting an 8900 from someone on craigslist and they gave me the PIN so I called to get it checked out. Honestly, I think they are idiots. The first rep I spoke to didn't have any idea about checking out PINs. He also said RIM wasn't capable of blocking them, which is BS. He told me I had to speak to RIM. I called RIM, they told me since it was a T-Mobile phone I'd have to speak to T-Mobile. Ugh. I called T-Mo back and the lady I spoke to didn't seem to know much more than the first rep. She put on hold and spoke to "Jorge" who I'm assuming was the main BB specialist or something and he was able to check the PIN and said it was all good. There's my take on T-Mo. It made me glad to have AT&T. They have always been way more helpful and informed.Last edited by savioAMG; 06-12-09 at 04:39 AM.

- t-mobile support for these phones is excellent. I have not had any negative instances from any of the reps I have talked to about support/replacement phones. The only negative I can come up with regarding t-mobile is that they don't get the new phones released by BlackBerry as fast as the other carriers in the US. i.e. Verizon and At&t, don't know about Sprint/Nextell.06-13-09 07:42 PMLike 0
- Okay, so I have another dumb question. ALL email accounts are PUSH on bb's right? Like if I have my gmail and yahoo accounts in addition to the bb email account, they all will be push right?06-16-09 07:27 PMLike 0
