People can PIN message you or add you to BlackBerry Messenger. The only info they get with your PIN is your Owner Info screen.

i wouldn't publicize my PIN just because i don't want to be annoyed with random requests. Other than that, it is safe.

You can always tell folks to PM for PIN.
