Help! I had to exchange my 5 day old 8310. The new one has BB messenger but it won't allow me to invite or ping anyone. Any ideas?

thanks everyone! on the 15 dollar unlimited email plan i have it says "unlimited send and receive email and blackberry messenger" so I guess that should answer my question!
