I'm a new Blackberry owner (pink Curve) with Verizon. I am doing ok with it and I've seen lots of recommendations for downloads here. My question is..do we have to worry about corrupted software or problems encountered when we get free downloads? There are so many options out there, I don't want to screw anything up.
Welcome to Crackberry!! Im sure there is viruses or corrupted software out there (i will say that i have never encountered any corrupted or virus like software in my 7 months of owning a BB) but as long as your downloading from stores like the CB store and trusted sites like that you should have no problem!
Great question! There aren't really any viruses or spam written for the BB (yet). There is a lot of speculation as to why. A couple of the reasons are 1. it wouldn't be worth it to write any, 2. the device is pretty darn secure since each device has it's own PIN and ESN.
Of course, there is always someone trying to mess things up for other people by writing bad code or trying to hack stuff, so if you think something is a bad idea to install, go with your gut.
(The other day I found a petition that asks for your name, device, PIN, ESN, a whole bunch of stuff. Though I supported the cause of the petition, my gut just tells me not to trust someone with all that)
Thanks Greg and Michelle! I appreciate all the welcomes. I'm so glad I have my Blackberry to get me through Hurricane Ike!!! Send good thoughts to Houston please
