I know this is probably real simple but I can't seem to figure this out.

Either click "Reply" or "Reply with quote" on their post, or at the bottom there's a "Reply to thread" button.

Since I don't see the Crackberry tag at the bottom of your post I will assume that you are not using the phone app. If you look at the post you will see several 'action' buttons that you can use. Otherwise you can just scroll down until you see the quick reply posting box.
