Hey everybody! I'm Jenny and I've ordered a used, unlocked Blackberry Bold 9000 from ebay to play with. I've never owned a blackberry, but I knew I wanted a phone with a physical keyboard. I have an iPod Touch but I don't find it very good for writing for me. A because I've got poor vision and need to be able to feel the keys as well as see them, and two because the iPod is so full of games and music its impractical to use for my note taking, writing and officey type stuff.

It'll be nice to have a cell phone again, if I can get a sim for this phone, I haven't had a cell phone in 8 years, can you believe it? This is a US model Blackberry though, will a local sim be treated like local on it?

Welcome! And don't forget to adjust your font on that 9900, it will aid with your poor vision. Enjoy your stay!

Sorry but did you get a 9000 or a 9900?? The first is a really old device which in this day and age I would t recommend.

Ahh, if she hasn't had a cell in 8 years, the 9000 is a decent way to get started. A good addiction has to start somewhere...

Jenny, since the phone is already unlocked, a SIM should give you native results for the Carrier you use, but if you plan to use many of the features, make sure part of your plan includes BlackBerry Internet Service, BIS, or you will be missing some functions that do not work without it, such as BBM and push email.

    Welcome to the CrackBerry forums!
