Is there anyway to check a new text or email without exiting out of the program, like the internet, that you are using? Thanks for any help, I am new to the blackberry world!

Not that I know of. You can switch back and forth by pressing alt+escape/back key.

Your welcome. I use it all the time. It's also good to set your convenience keys to the apps you use the most to switch back and forth with ease.
