    Hi,
Obviously, I am a newbie. I have a 8830 running on platform 3.0.0.67. My application version is 4.2.2.148. Is there a software update and how to???????

    Thanks!

There is an update to 4.2.2.196 available from Verizon. It won't add anything hugely important to your current version. I suggest you wait until you are thoroughly familiar with your device. Read the forums and watch people update and learn from their problems. Then, when you're ready, find any post by bmcclure937. He's everywhere in the forums. He has a link in his signature to the proper procedure to upgrade. Follow that, and you'll be in good hands.

I'm with you Jeff on that advice. I dont think it's ever wise for people who are already unfamiliar with their device and the OS to just jump right in and start changing the OS. They're scary people to say the least because their next post is always HELP- I Brick my Berry!"

    Welcome to CrackBerry!!

There is no need to upgrade, especially to a Beta OS... but that does not mean you will not do it, especially if you already have your mind set on it!

The link for Upgrade Procedure is in my signature... you are on your own for a Beta link for your device.
