I have looked at other threads and although Alt NMLL works for the signal strength, it doesn't work for the actual Battery Bar indicator. Anyway to change this from bars to numbers? Thanks

Download the themes from trimax84 here
    http://forums.crackberry.com/f16/free-8300-theme-60429/

I've downloaded them and they have percentage numbers to tell you how much battery life you have. I forget which theme has it (there are quite a few) but they all rock!

I realize that you really want the battery percentage remaining charge displayed on-screen but you can press Alt-LeftShift-H and scroll down a bit to see the battery remaining percentage charge.

It's not quite what you want but at least you can see the number until you find the theme you want.
