hey all, new to the boards and I dont have a BB yet, ive been looking for a good phone i can check my email with on the go, i have a couple friends with BB's and they love it, so my wife and I want to get them when our 2 year plan is up (about Jan)...
we both check email and chat like a fiend so i think a BB is perfect. so what is the best one I can get? We are forced to use Verizon because of our current location for now, so I think the curve is the best?
I dont mind the QWERTY typing, I had an enV for a long while, and now I have a Samsung U740 which is a qwerty type of pad, whats the main differences in the pearl and the curve? any news on the bold?
The bold isn't going to be out for Verizon when your contract is up. Verizon does have a exclusive BB coming out that is supposed to be all touch screen like the iPhone and is said to be out before years end.
I'm not sure if you'd be comfortable with an all touch and if not, the curve would probably be your best options.

I just got my first bb (8820)a few months ago and love it. I played with a pearl in the store and couldn't get used to the sure type after using a razor for texting for the last two years.plus I work for the gvt and can't have a camera on my phone.

okay so what kind of cool stuff can I do with a smart phone? ive never used a smartphone before so..
I noticed different apps and such but regular phones have those..? how about homebrew? how hard is it to change themes or something on it? any mods out there? just trying to see whats out there that makes it so much better other than email (which my regular phone can do) and wifi..
i think it's a personal thing, but i really don't like the pearl. the qwerty and the big screen are what sold me on the curve, and i love it. the spacing between the keys is awesome and makes it easier to type fast accurately.
when i went to get mine (i'm an at&t user), it came down to the curve and the 8820 (the 8820 is more expensive and sophisticated). i haven't yet regretted my choice!
if you're a social user who plans on getting an unlimited data package, the curve is for you.
