Hi all, I've never had a blackberry, i'm planning to buy myself one. I wanted to know if someone could get me a timeline of the following blackberry devices:
I plan to buy a used blackberry so I want to know how many years old the device is going to be if I buy it used. If there are any design defects associated with the model, please state them as well.

Firstly let me ask a question, what carrier do you want to use? Based on that answer we can then help guide you. But, I will say this, to me the oldest phone you should get used/new is the 8100 (Pearl). No point in starting off older, just my opinion...
Also, even more importantly, you should go to your respective phone service provider, and play with a few BlackBerry's, more so a QWERTY keyboard (full keyboard, like a PC) vs. a none full keyboard...
These are the sort of things to consider when getting a new device.
So, your home work for this weekend - LOL
1. Do I want QWERTY or non-QWERTY...
2. Which carrier...
3. GPS or no GPS...
4. Big screen / small screen...
5. Trackwheel (older, on the right side of the device) / Trackball (newer, in the middle of the device, looks like a 'pearl')
...etc, etc. Keep us posted; we're just a big 'crackberry addict family'.
I want a QWERTY one.
I don't need a GPS.
Carrier doesn't matter, I plan to buy an unlocked handset.
I prefer the Trackwheel over the Trackball

If those are your preferences, then I'd suggest an 8700 model. You should be able to find a good used one for between $140-$180.
Maybe for every carrier EXCEPT Verizon. I haven't been able to find an 8703e for under $250 yet and for $267 I can extend my contract and get a new one from VZW.
You right Audit... I was just referring to the GSM carriers since they have 8800 models out, but be patient, as soon as Verizon releases the 8830 I'd bet the 8703e will be up for sale cheap.
