You have a blackberry but another carrier has the blackberry you want or there is another carrier that has a blackberry that would go better with your carrier, how do you decide? I have a bold with tmobile on os 5.0.411 and its smooth, internet is slow but wifi helps out here and there, looking to get another BB but can't decide, a lot of BB's can be unlocked so...opinions?

8900 or 9700. For me anything else would be a step backwards.

Really what you're asking is like all the other hundreds of threads, what BB is best.

Pick the one that suits your needs and just go for it.

You have the top of the line Bold with 3G support. Going to any other technology is pointless.

The 9700 is the next generation Bold.

No, I know you don't get it, none of your comments help, so were they needed? Ppl ask other ppl for their friendly opinions and then people like you come in and try to take it into a whole different direction.......

You can debrand a Bold 9000, something not yet possible with newer BlackBerry smartphones like the Bold 9700. There are so many things a Bold 9000 let's you do, it's the most hacking-friendly BlackBerry out there. I know it's not what you're looking for, but thought I would throw in my two cents.

Will not go into detail of how debranding is done (Google it, there are many guides / info on this), but debranding won't allow you to use 3G on T-Mobile.

Unless of course you re-program the radio... however T-Mobile uses an upstream and downstream channel on either band (1700Mhz/2100Mhz) meaning that you can't have full 3G functionality with 2100Mhz, which the Bold 9000 supports out of the box.

    Hi Mate

What country are you in? If you are n the UK his will apply to you...

The next best Blackberry that would work on your T-Mobile sim is the Blackberry Bold 9700 on the Virgin Mobile next work... The reason being is that it runs on the T-Mobile network... You will be able to pick up 3G in the UK on T-Mobile but you may need to call T-Mobile and order a 3G simcard.

If you have a standard T-Mobile sim it will not work in the UK on any Blackberry 3G device
