My wife and I just moved from Massachusetts to Oklahoma last month. We are stationed at Vance AFB which is in a little city called Enid. Unfortunately, our verizon 3G went from outstanding to non-existent. Looking at the glorious coverage map, there's a hole where Enid is. Up until yesterday, we were using the extended network with some prevail, but not any more. Apparently a cell tower was shut off over the weekend.

So, I basically don't get 3G anymore. I love my Storm, but it looks like I have to switch carriers. That being said, we probably won't be able to do that until after the holidays. My question is is there anything I can so with the Storm that will help it temporarily with 3G?

Call vz and see if they will give you a hybrid PRL. If they will, that will allow you to roam from a different tower.

I vacationed from central NY to Chicago and doing that helped my service.

VZW is pretty good about fixing towers, give them a call. I am going to move this thread to the Verizon Forum section.

Hmmm thats weird. Its kinda the same for me, but where I live, they say I do have coverage (on their map) but I almost never have 3G coverage lol

*228 will not work if he is in an extended network area. Don't think a trouble ticket will help either as its not verizon's tower that was shut down.

Yeah, it is laso possible that it is your device that is having troubles, not the network.
