Just like they did with the storm 2.. I was at the store today and the curve 2 is awesome to say the least.. And I think verizon should do this.

Any word or rumor they are doing this?

Ummmmm. They didn't do it with the storm. And they won't with this either. When the 2010 car models come out do you expect Chevy to give you a free upgrade to one from your 2009 model?

If you're eligible for an annual or two year upgrade, you can get it at a discounted price.

They won't just let you upgrade if you're not eligible. Always a good idea to call customer service and find out what your options are.

There was no such offer for an "upgrade" to the storm 2 from the storm 1 unless you were eligible to upgrade. At that point you would pay the 2yr price on the phone.

i had a 8330 curve for a year, when the 8530 came out. i opened another line for $10 to get the berry cheap! i bought a cheap razor for the new number, swap the new berry to my main line, sold my 8330 for $75 so i didnt have to pay $30 for the new line. so all im paying is a extra $10 a month for the new line. thats the best way to do that instead of paying full price!

Again, why? There were other options out there when you upgraded to the Curve. You had the Storm, the Tour, the Pearl, and the Curve. People could use the whole "I should get a free upgrade" for any phone. The new Chocolate Touch that just came out, than why shouldn't the people who bought the Chocolate 3 get a free upgrade? Or the Alias to the Alias 2. Or the Samsung Omnia to the upcoming Omnia 2. And the list continues...

Sorry if this sounds arrogant but why would you want the Curve 8530 (2)? Wouldn't you want the Tour instead? Looks better and feels better. Just my opinion.

I have a 8330 - why would I get a free upgrade? I'm guessing the poster just bought the 8330 not long ago, but beyond the 30 day take back period.

Sell it on E-bay - you might get $100 for it if you're lucky.

I could understand if a Storm owner with multiple replcements asked this, but the Curve is the best reviewed, most popular BlackBerry. Why would they switch them out when its not even a phone with common issues?

Before purchasing the Tour, I had a chance to use an in store demo for a few minutes. I can plainly see why he would want Verizon to offer this coming from my own previous standpoint and being a previous Curve owner. The Curve2 is a great phone, but I agree with many others. Do the right thing and get the Tour. Oh and I don't think Verizon needs to offer anything, if you don't have the upgrade it should be your own responsibility to pony up the bucks.

What Verizon needs to do, is every time a newer better phone comes out, is to let everyone who wants it upgrade at the two year pricing, even if they just signed a contract.... For no reason at all.... just because the people who always want the newest and best deserve to have it, but shouldn't have to pay retail to get it...

i called customer service and complained that after using my 8330 for over a year it has started to act up and I was ready for a new working phone. I wasn't eligible for an upgrade (used mine for the wifes phone).

the rep did an upgrade exception and said that I could get the 8530 at the promo price but would have to pay $20 upgrade fee and pay tax on the retail value of the phone.

now I have a new 8530 that I really like (honeymoon period)

check back with me in a few weeks!
