From what I understand, all Verizon 4G devices are unlocked by default and will work on other domestic carriers with compatible GSM frequencies (T-Mobile and AT&T).

I'm one of the few people who needs a non-camera device, and Verizon is the only carrier that sells the non-camera Blackberry Classic. I'm just hoping to verify if it is truly unlocked out of the box. The plan is to pay full price and buy it from Amazon, then activate it on T-Mobile.

Let me know if you have any experience using Verizon devices on T-Mobile or AT&T.

Yes this is generally the case. I have used Verizon a 9930, Note 2, and SG4 all on T-Mobile without issue. Sometimes you need to manually add the APN settings, but it's generally not a problem. The devices ARE sold unlocked. (I have also tested my Z10, Q10, Z30, and current Note 4 on T-Mobile)

(Before anyone gets twisted I also have a Passport currently )

Perfect. That's what I understood to be the case, but was hoping for assurance. I'm on Sprint, looking to switch all my lines to T-Mobile eventually. Thankfully at least, I live in an area where all 4 carriers have fantastic coverage, so price is the only concern. Moving to T-Mobile will certainly let me toy with the idea of getting a Passport as my primary device. The non-camera classic is only needed as I work for a major defense contractor, and no camerahones are allowed on company property (not even disabled ones).

Although you are probably aware of this, I don't think that you can port sprint devices over as I don't think they have band 13.

Right, that and devices purchased from Sprint aren't unlocked. I'm actually using a Google Play purchased Nexus 5 on Sprint (compatible with T-Mobile and unlocked already), and I'd buy a new phone for my wife.

Sounds like he intends to purchase a Verizon device.

Dude that's awesome. T-Mobile has pretty good service here, LTE and HSPA, so one can hope.

FWIW. looks like T-mo is back in the BBerry business with the Classic becoming avail about May 15. Not sure if it will arrive with WFC, but undoubtedly will get an update to make it work.
