For the life of me can not figure out why people use Verizon and ATT plans.

They are roughly $50 more per month vs Sprint Unlimited plan.

Just looking at the numbers and you will see what I mean.

    $50.00 month x 12 Months = $600 year

Doing this over 40 years...say from 20 years old to 60 years old.

    That is $600 a year.
Invested at 10% return (very conservative return for 40 year time frame)
    40 years of investing

    $292,111.09

That is how much verizon and ATT are costing you.

    Crazy.......

Remember Alltel? They were cheaper. How did that end up? VZW took them behind the wood shed and put them down. Sprint will be next or ATT as soon as the i-phone exclusivity thing is done and over with.

People use VZW and AT&T because most of the second tier carries are at the least sub-standard. The old addage is true-you get what you pay for. Also, in rural areas VZW and AT&T are sometimes the only option.

While Sprint's plans are tempting, many people do not want to deal with Sprint, and they probably will never recover from there terrible customer service from the past.

Can you imagine if Verizon just terminated all the other carriers, and they were the only carrier in the US?
    That would be C-R-A-Z-Y.

The reason I choose at&t is for the fact that the nearest sprint is 60 miles away and signal for them suck. I tried dealing with verizon but they were lousy with anything I ever needed help with. So I switched to at&t

As for verizon being the only carrier.....that sounds like a monopoly to me and those are illegal . But then hey there's loopholes for everything

To be honest, the only bad thing that Sprint has going for them at the moment is their sub-standard phone selection...I mean..at least with T-mobile you can bring in your own unlocked GSM phone of your own choosing, but Sprint's phone selection leaves something to be desired..

If it weren't for the Blackberry Tour, I would have already switched carriers.

They all have good coverage down here (south of Houston). Don't let people tell you that one is vastly superior to the other. I just wish I could get my wife off of her iPhone, then I'd switch totally over to Sprint and get the Tour 2.

Yeah really. $600 x 40 = $240,000. On top of that, your 10% return, so it's even less. So let's just say you get 10% of every year back, your return ends up being $2,400.

    So your total ($240,000 - $2,400) is $237,600.

    OP's Math = Fail.

Umm glitch, I hope you don't really think that 600*40 is 240k. He means you put the 600 in a high intrest savings account and that noney will lead you to the 240k

$600x40 is 240k. I wasn't talking about some 'high interest savings account'. I was saying straight multiplication. 240k/10% is 2400. Sheesh, really guys? Really??

Really? That's interesting. Over the past 15 years, I have been with all of the "major" US carriers, and have found Sprint to be by FAR the best in customer service, and AT&T to be the worst, consistently.

In my experiences, Sprint has, and will do just about anything to ensure my satisfaction, which is the complete opposite from my 2 year nightmare of an iPhone with at&t.

I agree that Sprint is by far the best bang for your buck.

At least in my area, I get superior service, superior customer service(always willing to do whatever was needed to make me happy) and a superior rate plan that can't be beat.

The "big 4" in my area are Verizon,AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint/Nextel/Boost, with Cricket not far behind since their incredible move into the east coast last year.

I've had Verizon, Virgin Mobile(prepaid) and Sprint and the other two really lacked in one or more areas. Verizon was atrocious in the CS department, and their plans were not competitive. VM simply had substandard service.

My sister has AT&T for the moment, and while she loves her iphone, she always complains about her bill and service.

Sprint has certainly been an enjoyable experience for me, with rate plans that can't be beat.

Ive been with Sprint for several years now and have been completely satisfied...The costumer service and coverage issues that everyone claims are prevalent are for the most part in the past.

Paying more does not necessarily mean you are getting more.

I agree with you on the fact that Sprint will go out of their way to try and keep you as a customer. But sadly this I'd due to the fact that they do such a horrible job upfront that they are constantly having to "retain" customers.

Sprint is great, customer service is great, prices are great, phones are just ok. If you have Sprint coverage in your area it is a no brainer. Verizon is the Devil (el diablo!) and AT&T drops calls and their 3G is very spotty. I live in the NYC Metro area and use Sprint for personal and used AT&T for work, so I have experience using both.

The OP is very right, people are throwing money away paying that much for service. Now if Sprint does't have good coverage in your area that is different, but I have not been anywhere that my Sprint phone didn't work (besides out of the country and now that I have the Tour I can use a SIM).
