How do we do this?
Well I do mine from the mobile network options.
What is a PRL?
Thanks for the head's up, CK. Do you normally to do a battery pull after updating your PRL, or is that not necessary?
Preferred Roaming List
To do this, at least with VZW, dial *228 and then hit 2.
How do you update? *228?

....... it certainly cant hurt.
Thanks!
always good to have the latest
Thanks for the heads up.
Correct me if I am wrong, but doesnt a PRL update allow the phone to utilize non carrier towers? As a verizon customer, you wouldnt need a prl update to benefit from verizon enhancements, me, as a sprint customer, should do it for my roaming purposes.
No?
Just curious, but how do you know this?
*228? Yes, no?

228 option 2
You just had to look up at my post originally ;)
But now you can look down at cereal killer's post.
On the Sprint TourN you can go into 'manage connections' then 'mobile network options' hit the menu key and scroll down to 'update preferred list'
I am assuming the vzw tour has this menu as well?

It seems there is no change with the alltel portion of vzw...its still 40052.

No Verizon Tour's do not have this option.
So what exactly does this PRL update mean/do?
Yes, but thats not the only thing it does.
If your a former Alltel customer it may make a difference. VZW is doing away with some sids while integrating the Alltel network. If you happen to have a really old Alltel PRL that didn't allow roaming on the particular sid you happen to be on you'll have no service while all the other VZW customers do.
