Looking for someone to help me unlock my Blackberry 8830 World Edition, it is currently locked MTS as the provider...trying to change to rogers GSM network, IMEI number is 354292.02.092916.0 please email with some info, how to, anything to help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The 8830 cannot be used on North American GSM frequencies, unlocked or not. The GSM radio only works on European GSM frequencies.

I wonder what year it will be before people learn this. Why there isn't a sticky titled "The 8830 will NOT work on North American GSM" is beyond me.

The question is already addressed in the 8830 FAQ Read First sticky at the top of the forum. If someone can't find it there, it's unlikely another sticky would help.

We can unlock it, but it won't do you any good as 8830WE's only work in Europe GSM networks.

Hi there I have the bb we and would like it unlocked only to use while traveling overseas. My question is if I unlock the phone and have a sim card from any european country for example will I be able to use the phone here with that sim card? and where would be the best place to get the code through the pevious carrier or online? the phone was registered with MTS....

You will not be able to use the 8830 here in North America in GSM mode, no matter what SIM card you have in it.

It will not work here. Always try your carrier first for the code and if that fails you can try us or any other unlocker on here.
