- I was thinking of getting an unlocked at&t 9700(i am on rogers) i have read around and people say in order to get 3g and calls to work is if u have a 3040 sim card not the new 4000 ones. i looked on my sim card and the middle column has the numbers 00511...? i looked at all the rows and it does not have a 3 or 4 thousands. will that work on 3g with calls or no? i got the sim about 10 months ago01-14-10 09:26 AMLike 0
- You have to get the sim card 3040, you can get it online. You probably misread the number, you might got the xxxx xxxx 4000 xxxx, but you have to get something like that xxxx xxxx 3040 xxxx , or whatever resemblance it.
I got my bold 9700 from At&T unlock and luckily i had my old sim card, i pop it in and have my 3G , works super fine for me and no problem
More info regarding the sim, look in the crackberry search or google, but don"t worry about it! it will work if you get a sim card of 3040 series01-14-10 06:39 PMLike 0 - Unfortunately it won't work on your Bold 9700 for the 3G phone calls and sms. I had the same sim card and downgrade to the 3040 series.
The U0.2 sim card is the newer version, a 4000 series.
But since you are buying the bold thru the internet, at the same moment get the sim card 3040 over ebay, it cost $25. Usually rogers sell it for $40.

Let me knoe if everything is fine!01-15-10 09:18 PMLike 0 - Just curious, I've got an old SIM card being used in my Curve 8900 now with Rogers that I've had for many many years going back to a Motorola V551 GSM phone. It's got a 3030 number in it but it's got 5 sets of digits.
ie: xxxx xxxx 3030 xxxx xxxx
Any significance to that?01-16-10 06:31 AMLike 0 - Hey Shabbs! well after reviewing my two last message I notice that i only made 4 digits. Actually it is 5 as you mention and is the right one!
The 3030 series is working on a 32K such as the 3040 series, and the newer one such as the 4000, is working on a 64k. They are just series, made to be adjust with your phone on that year. like 4 or 6 years ago, the data wasn't that big, and cost alot, with the time they discover better technology and faster data, so they have to make faster and stronger sim card, and come out with the 4000 series. Maybe with the new 4G technology, sim cards will get into 40xx something. As long you blackberry works well in calls, sms, data and acquire good reception and or 3G.

What message do you get when you try to make a call?01-24-10 05:03 PMLike 0 -
Well actually I got the code from you. My 4000 sim worked almost a month, since I got the phone. I have an issue with the red phone button, I cannot turn on the phone with the red button. I have to do a battery pull. So because of this I upgrade from 423 to 442 then downgrade to 405. All 3 I have the same red button issue, unable to turn on the phone. But on 405 I cannot make phone call getting sim tool error. Since then I switched sim card a 3040 series, now everything is fine.
I did upgrade back to 423 now. I did borrow a 4000 sim, I was able to make calls. Anyway I am on a 3040 card now.
Any comment on the power on issue? It is a at&t bold. Thanks.

Right now I am using auto on/off
You may be right, device failure. I bought the phone in us and I am in Toronto, believe will be a pain to go thru warranty. Anyway not a big deal phone and other stuffs works.
The other thing that is not working is the soft reboot, used to. But other members have that issue also.
Thanks.01-30-10 10:48 AMLike 0 - CellUnlock.netUnlocking PartnerTrue, it wouldn't bother me either because I never turn my phone off01-30-10 12:09 PMLike 0
- I have to say...I never turned off my phone for fear of missing something lol, but ever since I started using Quickpull Lite, BB runs smoother than ever! Automatically does a reboot at 4am everyday!01-31-10 12:08 AMLike 0
