    Hello,

I would like to get some advice before possibly buying a new Blackberry Storm2 9550. I live in Switzerland (and already use a Blackberry on the Swisscom Telco), but the Storm2 is not yet available from Swisscom.

    1. Does anyone have experience buying in the States a so-called "unlocked" (e.g. Verizon) model?

    2. Are there issues like no MMS or no Web-browsing compatibility?

    3. Does it matter at all to get an "International" model / Are there situations in which a phone might be locked to countries (and not only carriers)?

Many thanks for your inputs :-)

Unlocking only enables you to use your phone on another carrier. It does not enable or disable any features or functionality. Phones are locked to carriers only. The country of purchase or use is irrelevant, as long as the phone uses frequencies available where you want to use it. The Tour, Storm and Storm 2 all work on both European and North American GSM frequencies.

As long as your carrier that you will be using it provides BIS service everything should work the same.
