You can buy from either source. At most, you're going to have to install a WFC "approved" OS manually.
Are you a T-Mobile customer? You can only use wi-fi calling if it is supported by your carrier.
Have we determined wifi calling works on non-branded phones?
I believe the hive concluded VoLTE needs a branded phone.

WiFi calling works fine on unbranded phones as long as you are using an approved T-Mobile OS... I have successfully used WFC on non-TMobile issued Blue Classic, Passport, Nexus 6P and Note 5... No issues with any of the non-TMobile device variants I've used as per WFC...

Thanks. Has anyone got VoLTE on a non-branded phone?
Oh yeah, my Z10 is branded...but you know.

BB10 phones never got voLTE on TMO, or for that matter, HD Voice (I could be wrong about the latter.)
My Classic gets HD voice, I'm pretty sure of it... Not sure about my Priv (yes, I know, not a BB10 device, but still, not something I've thought about until now) ... I am at home so of course no signal and WFC happening over here rendering me unable to investigate... But the Classic I'm pretty certain I've seen it cop an HD Voice icon a few times...

Wiki shows the Classic, Passport, Priv, etc as being able to support HD Voice https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List...ort#BlackBerry but even more importantly, T-Mobile shows the Classic as being HD Voice compatible... https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-22210

The Priv also https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-24559

Thank you. I stand corrected.

Nice thanks for the info looking to get an unlocked passport on Tmobile soon

The band knowledge as well as voLTE knowledge are not subjects where I am well versed... Is 'Enhanced 4G LTE' a fancy term for voLTE? If so my Classic is on it via T-Mobile now

It's an indicator for IMS. So in our case (T-Mobile BB10 customers,) it's on because of WiFi calling (of which IMS is the 'parent.') Other features it may be on for would be voLTE, and HD voice that's paired with LTE (AT&T, Verizon.)
Suffice it to say, you have VoLTE if you are in LTE and making a call.
There is still some uncertainty if both parties have to be VoLTE capable to make a VoLTE call. The Erikson data says that is required, but users on Reddit say otherwise.

I don't think TMO's implementation requires both parties to be on LTE for a voLTE call.
TMO claims that ~50% of their calls (last quarter?) were on LTE. I don't think it's likely that everyone on both ends of those calls was on LTE.
The buzz-phrase is "cross carrier VoLTE." The problem is the press confused this with "cross carrier HD voice." Kind of like how in the US, 4G is really just souped up 3G while everywhere else 4G is LTE.
This is really unfortunate since GSM prides itself on standards, and these marketing types are mucking it up.
Supposedly the only cross carrier VoLTE is between AT$T and Verizon. Thus far, the only HD voice I've had is with Tmo customers. As you know, I've never had VoLTE.

If you don't mind, may I ask which is the WFC approved OS for the Passport? Perhaps I could use search function but I don't have the patience :-).
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers

10.3.2.2789 is one, for sure. There are newer ones too, but I don't remember which ones they are. Maybe someone else can chime in.
10.3.2.2813
I'm on 10.3.2.2789 OS 10.3.2.2514 software version. WFC OK, but I seem to no longer have NFC. I haven't researched if this is an issue with the rev or my phone is messed up.

I'll for sure be taking note especially if I get to win me a passport this time around Sweeeet / is there a radio on the z10???
Forgiven
The FM chip is not present in the Z10 STL 2-4, and was never enabled on the -1. So no radio on the Z10.
Running Sachesi:
2813 has links. It is listed as production beta.
2876 has links. It is listed as production beta.
2879 is listed as production, but no links.
Nothing higher than 2879.
Edit:
There is a delete bug for Android apps on 2876. I recall some app in bbworld to fix it. However 2876 will kill WFC unless you use the radio in 2813, which you geeks know is 2814.
I would suggest installing 2813. I'm going to do that myself and hope my NFC comes back to life.
