Unlocking on a Blackberry is permanent. Even if you upgrade the OS or restore the OS, reset the phone, your Blackberry will never relock.

I had my 9700 unlocked, as sabooher mentioned nothings gets reset or erased. It will have all the same function and at the same time allow you to use a different provider's SIM.

I used cellunlock.net a few times. great service. As said on several posts, unlock is permanent and does not delete anything on your blackberry.

Unlocking a BlackBerry doesn't involve software like the iPhone. The process is not reversible.

Even though unlocking is permanent, it actually ups the value of your phone since it can be used on any network that supports the phone type. BB Bolds are pretty versatile on that front.

No worries..everyone should try to get the code from the carrier free first before turning to 3rd party unlockers
