UMA calling on Orange UK
Tried making a call over the UMA with my mobile network turned off (on the Bold 9700) and they've charged me for the call.
What I dont understand is this: Why should Orange charge me for calls that I make which (as far as I can understand!) essentially use my home broadband?? And my broadband provider is Plusnet.
Could someone please explain this to me?
Thanx in advance!

There is another, fairly extensive, thread in this forum that describes how this works and why it is still classed as being on the carrier network. In short, a UMA connection routes you back into Orange, the only difference is that its over wifi/internet, rather than over the air. The rest of the call handling and routing is all standard Orange network stuff. Other carriers handle UMA in the same way too.
