Apparently while I was on the phone with a verizon rep, he told me that by using cellunlock.net and receiving an unlock code from them I can actually buy a bold or some gsm blackberry and use it on the cdma or Verizon network...is that true? Can someone be so nice as to actually run through a couple of steps on unlocking a blackberry and getting it working on a verizon network. I appreciate all future help.
1) Unlocking is only relevant for GSM networks.
2) Most providers will give you the unlock free if you ask nicely (and tell them you're going overseas and will need to use local sim cards there).
3) How to unlock a Storm can be seen here.
so basically wat your telling me is if i wanted to buy a bold 9700 and use it on my verizon network thats not possible? even if verizon bbs use a sim card.
GSM Blackberries do not have CDMA radios. They will not work on a CDMA network. AT ALL.
Some CDMA blackberries have GSM radios to enable "world" capabilities. These Blackberries will work on GSM networks if unlocked, but you may not get full functionality such as 3G.
