I am almost certain the warranty does not transfer. Also, as far as my experience goes, you cannot insure a phone you did not buy directly from Verizon. If you lose it, or if it gets damaged, you eat the cost.
Yes the warranty doesn't transfer but Verizon gave me a replacement for $50! With 3 months warranty.

This isn't normal. When a phone is activated the rep has to put in that the phone was customer provided therfore no insurance available and no warranty. Its been said lots of times that reps replace a phone that they shouldn't have. This is one of those times.
It wasnt what the rep did. It was what the system asked them to do. The system asked for a deductible of $50.
Thats right. When the phone is out of warranty after a year you pay 50$ for a phone because its out of warranty, not because the phone got switched to your account.
So I believe they treat all phones same when they are out of warranty.
Another related question : so after you pay the $50 deductible do you have to pay that everytime you get a replacement?
Well normally theres a 90 day warranty on CLNR's the refurb phones sent out
So after the 90 day if I have a problem I pay $50 bucks again, right?
Actually this is normal in my experience. We have gotten several 50 dollar out of warranty exchanges. Of course we have 8 lines and a 400 a month phone bill too

Yeah out of warranty but not a phone that was just activated right? Say someone calls in and says my buttons don't work on a bb storm. If they activated it a month ago but it was on another account prior wouldn't teh warranty be voided?
I guess I misread the point you were trying to make. All of ours were NE2 upgrades purchased NIB from VZW that crapped 366 days after we got them

Yeah im with ya there but what im sayin is this guy said that he swapped phones with a buddy therfore his warranties would be null.
Correct. Warranty is only for original purchaser.

Uh I agree the warrabnty is void which = no warranty.
Purchased from vzw and after a year = no warranty.
Both are treated the same by Verizon.
You can go on about it all day about what YOU think is right. I called four different customer care Rep and went to a store and they all sad they would charge me $50 for a replacement due to a lack of warranty.

So by what you say I could get a phone that has a faulty button for 25$. Activated pay 50$ and get a replacement phone for a total of 75$?
If its a VZW phone and active on your current line - yes.
They are looking for the business that comes from your monthly bills. VZW isnt losing anything.

It makes more sense now...
How is that related?
Uh... you seem like the type that likes to abuse loopholes. Obviously you want out of an etf so thats one and you activate phones out of warranty that could be faulty and then get them replaced... Its a sign of your character.
Wow. Lovely of you to judge my character by a few posts online. Good luck with everything else in your life. I have nothing else to say.
Not a problem, you can tell a lot about the questions people ask and the way that ask them.
A guy asks a little kid if he wants some candy in his van and people think...
a. No problem this guy has some candy harmless.

thanks for the kind words.
