I have had SMS blocked for years. Then today I get a text message. WTF? It turns out when I went to the z10, my setting got changed to block BBM, not SMS and MMS.

So if you are one of those security conscience users, you may want to check if your SMS is still blocked.

Well, on legacy that's a setting within the Firewall. Isn't there a setting for it in the BB10 handset's firewall?

I'm not so sure I would move this thread. I think this is only specific to TMobile.

There is no firewall on bb10. Kind of annoying. I can tell you the bb6 firewall even stopped TMobile texts. I would have to drop the firewall for TMobile password resets.

A lot spyware phones home via texting. SMS was OK when you had nothing. Not even email. But in the 21st century, it doesn't make much sense.

Yes. There are a few things the carrier can customize, and blocking texting at the carrier is one. I am on an old plan that doesn't have texting as a freebie, so I block it. Also SMS is a security risk. Better not to have it.

I block MMS too.

I had it blocked by the carrier on two of my lines. Much easier, IMO, if you don't plan to use the service ever.
