    Hey all.

As you can see from my signature I do web design. Well, I also work in Emergency Services. The station that i'm at for the next month does not have internet access so I signed up for the Phone as Modem add-on to my Sprint 8130 with the $30 BB Plan (the PAM was $15 extra).

As for speed... from "Momeyer" North Carolina (about 45 minutes east of Raleigh, 15 minutes west of Rocky Mount.

Not the greatest in the world... but it will work.

I think he's tethering his phone to his computer and then going through the computer's browser to the site.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think he is running it on his phone as this is a flash site.

What pmjohnson99 said. Afaik there is no reliable speed test with a bb browser, plus, bb doesn't support flash. This is clearly a screen shot of the laptop.

He's tethered his BB. So, that means he's using the BB as a modem for his laptop. The download speed isn't that bad, but the latency time is horrible. Was this over Bluetooth?

While I find the download speed acceptable, the latency on cell phones is what makes tethering painful. It takes a few seconds before a web page begins to download.

Is there a way to avoid the PAM and just link the phone's data port to a TV or monitor to view what the phone is browsing? Kinda like a viewer or camera does?

OK I see a speed of 333k....not great. If you are like me and work for a living $19 bucks a month extra hurts, so I grabbed mobishark for a one time fee of $50, ok so my best speed I could tell was 240k.......333-240....$50 once as to $19/month....you decide

    Hi Guzman,

I'm thinking of using Mobishark instead paying the tethering fees, but Phil is only reporting speeds of 240 kbps or so, and you're getting 333 kbps, which is still way below the EVDO Rev. 0 speeds you should be getting...what kind of reception/signal strength did you have while conducting the speed test?

reception was pretty good. i'm afraid no bb is going to have great speed tethered... i went ahead and got a air card from a friend that works at sprint (15 a month), and i'm gettin over 1000k

    Guzman,

A forum member in here (Success100) is posting speeds in excess of 1000 kb/s with his Curve (8330). I wonder how he is getting speeds so much better than the rest.

    Paulie

P.S. Just do a search for posts by Success100 to see his post about the speeds that he is getting.
