Not particularly related to Blackberry in any way but Rogers and Fido will be removing SAF. Hopefully Telus and Bell follow.

Goodbye to cellphone system access fees?

Hopefully a sign of better things to come, though I'm sure both Rogers & Fido will come up with creative ways to recover that SAF.

It would be great if they did go with it but as the above poster said, they will mostly likely make up that loss in another way.

Maybe a $6.95 Active line fee?......

from my understanding, its only fido.... it mentions nothing about rogers scrapping the SAF

"Rogers Communications Inc. is relaunching its Fido discount brand....The company still charges the $6.95 fee to its own Telus-branded postpaid customers, as does Rogers with its core offering."

you got me excited for a second...

Hmm the article seems contradictory then

"The Toronto-based company will relaunch Fido on Tuesday, according to the National Post, with new plans and a new logo. Rogers will also scrap the $6.95 monthly system access fee on postpaid customers. Prepaid Rogers and Fido customers already do not pay the fee"

and then further down they have the statement you quoted.

So not too sure on this one.

doubtful, i believe they had bb's on fido before but not anymore, rogers is trying to brand fido for the younger consumer' and rogers would be for more of the business oriented or those willing to get into contracts.

$7 goes a long way per month.... yet alone after a 3 year term
