So my wife was having issues with her unlocked, T-Mobile 8320. She's not under contract with AT&T any longer.

So she calls AT&T and they do some cell tower reset for her phone, then proceed to inform her that "we see that your phone is a Blackberry and we will be adding a data plan to your account." To which she relied (edited for content).. #&(%*# NO you're not! They said that once in the system, there is no way to remove it! She said you'll have to find some way to remove it.. So the only way that they could was to reset her phone in the system with "Manufacturer Unknown."

So she was able to get the data plan charges reversed.. Ha!!!

If you're not under contract, I don't think they can force a data plan on you.

What do you mean by not on a contract? Who are you paying for your service?
