Question re: Network Compatability & Unlocking

My network (Bell Mobility, in Canada) doesn't offer the Curve. The closest Bell comes is the 8830 World Phone.

Since I'd really love a Curve, and since I really don't want to change networks, I'm trying to figure out a few things, and am running into trouble getting clear answers, so I hope someone can help.

1. The Curve seems to be a GSM/ GPRS phone. How do I figure out if Bell Mobility supports that technology?

2. Bell says they don't support phones from any other provider. *If* the Bell network will support the GSM phone, I will need to buy one elsewhere and unlock it. What will I need to do after unlocking it to move my current phone service to my new phone? And how do I do that without Bell simply denying me service?

Bell is CDMA and Curves are all GSM, no way can a curve be utilized on Bell services.
