Hey i have a few questions about unlocking my Storm...

-How do i tell if my phone is already unlocked? Because i can switch my modes from "global" to GSM" or whatever....

-Does it allow me to just insert an AT&T SIM card and be able to use it right away??

-Does Verizon charge you to unlock?

3.) No. If you have been a great customer(bills payed on time, no late payments) then they should just give it to you. Theres a thread around here, that has a number where you call.

To test it just pop in the new SIM card and see if it works... There are probably other ways as well I just don't know much about unlocking
I am learning more about it all so that maybe one day I can go back to att without having a lot of questions myself.

Alright thanks, yeah i have the number to call i just have yet to do it cause i wasnt sure if they would charge or anything.

Say i bought like a T-Mobile pre-paid sim card, if it was unlocked, i should be able to just pop it in and go right? Same with any international, vodafone, etc.

yea, but blackberry uses an extensive amount of data, which may result in the tmobile sim not being able to be used,.

When I follow directions to unlock (from uniquephones) I get to teh MEP input screens (I guess thats what they are) and it now says.

ID: a long number
Personalization: blank
SIM: disabled
Network: active

This appears to mean it's unlocked? yes or no?

Prior to entering all of the MEP stuff the header will state SIM Card: Security Disabled if it is unlocked.

isnt that weird though if i bought my storm directly from a verizon store on a new 2 year upgrade??

I got my Storm from a VZW corp store and it says that. I didn't unlock it. Was it already unlocked by Verizon?

Wrong... my sons storm says the exact same as mine. Mine is locked and his is unlocked... There's got to be another way to tell...
