    Hi all,
I'm somewhat confused on what to do here. My Blackberry is getting slow and I'm due for an upgrade. I like the Q10 but was really hoping Sprint would keep their word and carry the Z30. Should I get a Q10, wait for Sprint to hopefully carry the Z50 or other newer all-touch device, or leave entirely and go to Verizon and get the Z30?
Any thoughts? Thanks for the advice!

It's been seven months... Sprint is not going to start carrying a seven month old device.

If Sprint Service works for you, you are not going to like Verizon's pricing. I'd go buy the phone from Verizon and use it on Sprints network.

The Q10 is a great phone, it was a huge upgrade for me over the Bold 9930. The Q10 is $149 on contract, but you should think about buying a used one on eBay. You should be able to find one for around $200. That way you will still have the upgrade to use when/if Sprint carries a newer BB device.

Get the best phone available with your upgrade. Sell it privately for the going rate in your area, use that money to buy the z30 directly from blackberry.
    Cheers

Verizon's pricing actually isn't that bad, I would be switching but i'm on an old plan and really don't want to lose it. For how little q10's go for on the 2nd hand market now, I wouldn't waste an upgrade. You can buy the q10 off swappa for $185, but I've seen it for sale for as little as $100. Look on this forum or your local craigslist. If you purchase off craigslist, meet the person in a Sprint store to verify that it isn't stolen/has clean esn. Then in the fall either use your upgrade on an iPhone 6 and sell it to make a nice profit or hopefully be able to use it on the z30 successor.

Since when can you purchase a device on Verizon and get it to work on Sprint? Hasn't that been proven not to work?

Thanks for the advice everyone. My concern was exactly that - I didn't want to waste an upgrade on an older phone and then have possibly the Z50 come out (I know the Z30 will never see a Sprint branding now.) I am somewhat happy with Sprint's service, but just very frustrated with their support of Blackberry devices. From what I've been seeing on this site, hopefully the Z50 will be released, or have more info in Q3 of this year, so hopefully my phone will hold on until then. If not, I may get the Q10 second hand to save the upgrade.

I wouldn't rush into buying a Q10 as they can develop a double typing issue; http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...-issue-827195/
My Q10 is doing this and at this point I'm thinking of getting a Windows Phone.

If u buy a Q10 make sure your existing plan allows for alot of data usage if you use the Internet on your cell phone alot as the data isn't compressed like OS7. I am a moderate to heavy user and use about 4-6 gigs a month but on my older BlackBerry's, I would rarely exceed 1 gig doing the same thing, just sayin...

I've been with Sprint for over ten years, and before upgrade to BB10 my biggest concern was having to change my unlimited data plan. Over six months now and other than losing the 23% my job discount from my job, I still have my same unlimited family plan. Just call sprint cs and confirm that if you do upgrade to BB10, your data plan won't change. That's what kept me with Sprint.

Sprint is to busy sucking apple's *&%$. I want to leave sprint so bad but verizon and ATT plans suck compared to sprint. I want the Z30 so bad but from talking to the sprint idiots over the past few months, they have zero plans to do anything BB. Been with sprint over 10 years too but watching for verizon to come out with a nice special so I can abondon sprints sinking ship. BB should have bought sprint and made it a BB exclusive service. Maybe BB should buy T Mobile and make it exclusive to BB phones only.

I agree and that's where I'm at right now. I just wish Sprint would realize that not everyone who has a cell phone wants an iPhone or Android OS. Believe it or not, there are still some Blackberry fans out there!

Can't do that. Like Verizon, sprint doesn't support unlocked devices.

So what I finally dumped Sprint, bought my Passport and switched to Tmobile. I pay $80 for unlimited everything with 4glte that also includes 5GB to use as mobile hotspot per month, and my service has been so much better than my sprint service ever was. Seeing how you can get a new unlocked Z30 direct from BlackBerry for $299 at the moment it seems you may want to think about dumping Sprints old dusty CDMA network too. It also works on At&t and Metro PCS and Cricket. Basically every carrier but Vzw, Sprint, and US cellular.

Just an option to consider. Was with Sprint for 12 years.

It's easier to switch when you are only on one line. I have 8 lines, so any price increase to one line is compounded 8 times. After switching plans for the 4th time this year I think this one will stick. I'm on a business share plan, 80gb of data with mobile hotspot, unlimited talk and text for 370/month. Going to try and see if I can get discounted on lines where I purchased the phone outside of sprint which would knock me down to 330/month.

Service has definitely improved since last year. I'm hoping they continue to pour money into the network, but it seems as if their strategy has shifted to targeting big cities and I don't think my city would fall under that category.

Edit: I would like to switch to verizon because they have the best network, but would love to be able to purchase gsm phones like you mentioned. If I switched it would likely be tmobile. I looked at straighttalk which seems like a great deal but data is throttled after 3gb.

Yeah. Tmo was the only one I found without throttling. I have 3 lines total. Tmo plan as I mentioned above is 80 first line, 60 second, 40 third line, all with same service. Idk if it goes lower after that? But it's cheaper than my old sprint plan was and I can buy and use any phone because they all have GSM. Just really got tired of Sprints BS all the time. And after promising the next generation Z10 (which was Z30) I really don't have any faith left. Also I've been told and have read that both Sprint and Tmo took a long term bath with regards to apple products? Not sure if it's true but they do push rather hard with them.

In any case good luck with your phones

I would say they just as much promote samsung as Apple. Only 2 mid range windows phones and no new BlackBerry in sight. I guess it makes sense if there isn't that much demand and bb needs to make a special device version for you from which you are not sure if you are going to sell it. But who knows what pops up next year.

Yes, but even if you have a phone that will work on your CDMA network, the carrier (Sprint or Verizon) would have to allow the phone.
