Telus has informed me they don't offer roaming if I am on a prepaid rate plan (I use Data + Messaging 20).

I will be going to the States in a few weeks, and I will need to have some form of a roaming plan. Ideally, something that includes data, and a hella lot of text messages. The big limitation though is that I have a Q10, so it doesn't work with a lot of providers.

Should I purchase a SIM in the US? (That would mean getting a different number though, right?)

Is your Q10 locked? Is so, get it unlocked so you can put a U.S sim card in. Lots of choices, google for best one for you

Yes, it is indeed unlocked. Not sure how much time I'm gonna have down there to stop and get a SIM, heheh. Any recommendations?

Get a Roam Mobility sim card at Staples for$10 you will have Unltd calling and text with 400mb of data for $5.50/day. Look up the website I've had mine for a few years now and use it all the time. Roammobilty.com they use the AT&T network it will work. and if you want a Canadian number download the Fongo app from the app store for your Canadian friends to call without paying LD fees. and also free Canada calling. Roam mobility has plenty of talk text and data plans and are cheap. It's a great travel card and works in Mexico too

Is Fongo on Amzon, or BBW? (I guess I could look it up, but I don't have my phone on me at the moment.)

That's nice, but it would only be worth it if it forwarded my number.

You can forward your Fongo number to your Roam sim card and just hand out your Fongo number or you can use bbm voice. To call or receive calls because that will follow you with the Roam sim
