Ok, what are you paying for the unlimited data plan? My friend just got the 8130 and his unlimited data plan is only $29.99. I am paying $44.99. When I call Verizon about the 29.99 plan they act like I am crazy and say they have never heard of it.

I have had the $44.99 plan for like 2 years now and I think they are trying to keep me on that plan instead of giving me the 15 dollar discount.

the $29 is the standard BIS. The $45 is the BES one. You're on the wrong plan.

If i was in this position I would rather pay 10$ more and go with verizon, or another carrier that has more coverage, that's more consistent across the nation

Ok so after talking to 7 different people at VZ I finally found someone that new the differences between the two plans. I am now on the $29.99 plan and say goodbye to $44.99. I also changed over my wife's plan at the same time. Oh and I added VZ Navigator for 10 bucks, but that still puts me below my original payment.

I'm going to test out the VZ Navigator and see if I like it or not. I have factory installed navi in my car, but it's always good to have a back up when I'm not in my car.

Thanks for the help guys. Peace.

Yea I was looking they now changed so you can use the 44.99 plan that has bb access connect included, same thing as the 29.99 + 15 for the bb unlim then the bb ac feature add-on.

Its all a money grub, someone is always trying to make a buck

I just received a 8830 World Edition and I put the $29.99 BIS Unlimted Web and e-mail plan on it.

Will I get charged for downloading free third-party applications over the air, or using applications like BB map that show messages like "downloading 1KB," etc?

Edit: Put another way, why would a BIS user choose the traditional "Blackberry Data plans" over this $29.99 one?

the difference between the two is that the 29.99 data plan will not allow you to connect to BES. the 44.99 will allow everything the 29.99 does+connection to BES

Thanks, nslasha. That's what I suspected. So, just so I'm clear, I won't get charged for downloading free third party applications or free themes? I'm just curious because Verizon might be sneaky and call this data usage that is not covered under traditional "web and email."

So, free downloads are covered under this plan?

    Sincerely,
An apprehensive first time smartphone user.

YUPP everything you do is covered...under that 5GB cap. I have the tethering option and i still have only used 110megs this month with basic internet browsing.

Dont be scared to use the net, you pay for it.... USE IT :-p Thats the way i see it.

I tried the VZ Navigator...it only talks to you when you click your trackball and prompt it to...maps are low quality and the GPS "dot/location" indicator is huge! The whole program isn't very user friendly and isn't as full featured as other carriers GPS programs (Like Sprint's Telenav) however I'm loyal to VZW and won't switch because I enjoy the strength and wide coverage area of the network. Overall, it's a terrible program from VZ and it's not worth the $10 a month if you ask me... I just stick to BB Maps and my noggin' for navigation. LMAO

I think you must have the program set up incorrectly. VZNav is quite talkative. So much so that my kids complain about it and ask me to turn it off.

Of course, voice is only really active when you've asked for directions to someplace. Otherwise, it is quiet.

It talked to me all the time and never had to touch my phone. You can choose to have a male voice or a female voice.
