Whenever I make a phone call (Passport, Moto X 2nd Gen, iPhone 5s) my network connection drops from LTE to whatever the next option is available. If Edge is the only other connection I lose data until I hang up.

Does anyone else experience this? I haven't traveled since switching to T-Mo, so as far as I know it happens in Asheville, NC and the surrounding 25 miles.

I don't think you can make a call from LTE unless it is a VoLTE call. That would require calling another VoLTE capable phone on T-mobile at the moment.

I'm ok with not making voLTE calls, but I'd like to be able to maintain my data connection while making GSM calls. I guess T-Mo's network can't do that. I have been a Verizon customer for about 10 years.

OK, I misunderstand your question. You should drop into 4g during the voice call, but maintain data service. Of course the data is slower than plain LTE.

Well, that sucks. I wonder why it can't handle LTE and GSM simultaneously. I only have LTE and edge here, so phone calls mean no data for me. :-(

Verify that your EDGE is still on TMobile. Or just force your phone into EDGE and see if you have data.

If you have this problem on so many phones, maybe there is something wrong with your simcard.

I was in roaming in an area where Tmo had a 4G voice only partner and a 2g voice and data partner. I had cleft my phone in the mode to exclude 2G. Needless to say Tmo waa baffled why I couldn't get data.

Looks like just LTE and GSM for T-Mobile for my area. I'd have to manually connect to AT&T for data while on the phone. I have 2 SIMs in 2 different phones that this will happen on. Does anyone know why LTE is disconnected while the phone is in use?

311-580 is US Cellular. Just a FYI.

Run Signal and see if your display looks like this.

Signal is a free app in BlackBerry World.

You can only make calls on LTE if the other person is on TMobile and has a VoLTE capable phone.

I don't care about voLTE calls. I care about making phone calls on GSM and not losing LTE connectivity.

I only mentioned VoLTE since that IS how you make phone calls over LTE and still have data.

As far as I can tell, I use band 2 on UMTS. You also have that band. However, you have more bands than a 100-3 Z10. What is your model number.

    That's a Passport SQW100-1.

Ah yes, I went back and looked at the original post. If the Passport doesn't have a Paratek, it must sure have a lot of antennas.

He certainly has all the radios. I guess what is left is to see what TMobile offers in his area. I would need a rough geographical location.
