I'm sure the person at T-mobile I spoke to just doesn't know what they are talking about but wanted to check incase there was any truth to this. I was told that a factory unlocked Passport will not work on tmobiles network because they do not support the device and if I get a nano sim and put it in a factory unlocked one I will be kicked off the network after a few days.

Can someone please confirm this is incorrect or let me know if there are special things I need to do/consider to get a Passport activated and working on T-Mobile

    THANKS

I am with T-Mobile. Unlocked Passport. Regular SIM cut to nano size. Been using it since Oct. when I first got my BlackBerry Passport. Still working!

They are full of crap and I'd speak to a manager if told an outright lie like that. I have the passport and it works fine on tmobile.

The only thing that won't work is wifi calling as its not a supported device. Otherwise you can use any phone you'd like. Get a new phone every single day and they can't do a thing.

They specifically encourage people to bring in their own devices on T-Mobile. I'd talk to the manager. That is a training issue.

Works fine for my wife. Tmo {cut down SIM to nano} and works fine. Z30->Passport.

Hey Compuboy, sorry you got a drooler on the phone. 99% of my tech-ish interactions with T-mo over the ten years I've been with them have really been great.

    THANKS EVERYONE
That's what I thought... was 99% sure but it's been years since I was on a GSM carrier so needed that extra 1% so i'm not freaking out. It was actually a business consultant I was speaking to for T-Mobile business. After it works I'm going to give it a week or two and then mention it to him because if this was someone else they might have just said "forget it then" and returned their device.

If they try to charge you for a nano sim, call 611 and they'll credit your account.

My local T-Mobile store was happy to give me a free nano sim. No problem and took about 30 seconds.

What model Passport works on TMO - is it the SQW 100-1 that everyone here is using?

Yes. That's the only model that's available anyway.

Works great on T-Mobile. The only issues I've heard of is no 4G lte. But if that happens you just have T-Mobile set your account to recognize any random 4G lte phone.
