Who else on Verizon is dead in the water right now? The cell signal here disappeared about 8:15PM EST. It is affecting all the towns around me, and even a friend in Kentucky.
I know where the local towers are located, and so far I am counting at least 11 that are not transmitting. This goes for ALL cellphones also, not just the Blackberries.
There are about 5 or 6 Verizon outlets in this area too.. I can only imagine those who tried to activate new phones after 8:15.....
I predict about 1000 tons of disgruntled customers..
Tried the battery pull first.. then my gf complained she couldn't use hers..
I logged into Yahoo a few minutes later on my PC and had a few messages asking if I have service. Since then my gf and I have been talking to everyone we can get ahold of(lots of people-except those with VZW phones that are unreachable), and heard the stories of how their VZW phones(all kinds) all died somewhere around 8:15..same as ours. This is how I know of how many towns and towers are now "dead". We even have a friend whose husband is a trucker all the way in Kentucky at the moment. Last we knew an hour ago, she still gets the "all circuits are busy" when she tries to call his cell from a landline.
A call to VZW only yielded an "There's an outage? Oh yea my screen does show one, but no reason why and no ETA on a solution"..figures.
In Chicago here.. I just tried doing an update on my application center and got a message that read.. "Insufficient Wireless Coverage.... Tested it out by sending an email from my cell to my mac and did not get it...
