I didn't say turn a blind eye. I said if your not happy with ATT, then move to another provider.
I am trying to switch but like I said in previous posts in the forums, my wife takes care of the phone. We have a plan through the Union and NYC for ATT. It is a family plan with 3 phones. I wanted to remove one and they want to charge me $250.00 for a cancel fee. Still keep 2 phones if my wife and daughter wants, but $250.00 you think that's right.
The only thing is I have been in contact with other people who have had a plan through the union and close to 60% are pissed.
So I am trying to see if enough people ***** to the union maybe they will pick up verizon.
Now understand we have been with Cingular and ATT for almost 14yrs.
And until about 8 months ago there have been no problems.
I have used all different phones in Manhattan from Downtown to Harlem when I was on the job with no problems. I actually had better luck connecting to communications on Emergency Calls and MCI's faster and better then the Motorola system we have with MX and Saber radios.
It pisses me off that the service has deteriorated to the point it is. Those who are still on the job have bought Verizon contracts for emergency notification's and take it off has a tax write off.
I can't afford having a separate account. Though I have Verizon FIOS triple play adding a phone will throw me over a limit.
Also by me saying OH well your service sucks and it is known by them (just look at all the complaints). They can't be that stupid to realize something is wrong, but yet make every excuse under the sun. They need to have the FTC and FCC maybe start checking into their bold lies.

I'm no fanboy but I travel all around the 5 boroughs, Westchester, LI and have no problems whatsoever with Sprint. I do understand upstate NY can be a problem which I've experienced but was always able to pick up a Verizon signal for roaming.
What's sad is I would really like a iphone but way to scared to pick up AT&T, I only hope it comes to Verizon.
I thought verizon was getting the I-phone. There was something on Fox Business about it 3 weeks ago. They were also talking about Google selling their own phone in the same segment.
Now one thing you might want to think of is will Verizon go the way of ATT service if they get it? You might not want to have it if they can't handle the extra load of the I-phone.

Update: Called this morning regarding the dropped calls issue from the original post. AT&T threw a credit at me before I could blink an eye. Another 1.5 months free service...thanks AT&T. I may just stick out my two year contract after all....how can I go wrong with essentially half price service fees after all these credits? I still say NYC pathetic, but for free...eh, who cares?
Like I said earlier, I had to be prodded by others to call and complain, I never do stuff like that. Usually I take the hit, move on and learn my lesson. Since AT&T is such a pathetic signal in NYC, I feel it is my duty as a customer to pass on this information to you, so you too can benefit.

Well instead of a complaint I have some good news. I have service in 3 spots I didn't while traveling. I even had 3g Downtown. I only hope it lasts and things are improving.

Update:
Raven71, I'm with you. Something happened recently, like within the last week. I had full 3G in areas that were formerly EDGE only. Westside highway still spotty, but the lower east side right on up through 5th and 32nd all of a sudden have 3G.
Looks like my credit days are coming to an end.
Well, with all these credits I've been getting, I decided to put the money to good use. I went into an AT&T store in Paramus, NJ today. I wanted to buy a car charger for my 9000 and wound up walking out with a Mini Bold 9700. I know, I've bashed the mini bold before. But my trackball was on its way out again and for the rediced price of $350.00...eh I bought one. I'm using it now and know what? Reception is much better on this phone with 5.0 than any beta 5.0 on the 9000.
There may be some hope for AT&T afterall.

I live in Manhattan and have AT&T. It always seems to work for me. Then again when I am driving in Manhattan, I prefer to focus on driving not making phone calls. So I have never experienced a problem on the Westside highway.
I can't argue with you there AD, if you aren't using the phone, you should have excellent service lol.

I use my phone in the City all the time (unlike you, I live in Manhattan), just not when driving through it. I haven't noticed any problems. Then again, I have the Bold 9700, not the 9000.
AD, I agree with you there. I just switched to the 9700 on Saturday and the service I get with this phone is superior to the 2 9000's I had prior. I love this 9700 so far. Hope it keeps up.
