Now my signal is 0-1 maybe 2 bars 1X and only roams on US Cellular.

press *228 and option 2 to update your roaming capabilities
As cell plan prices go down, and availability goes up, all carriers are going to limit their customers from out-sourcing. We saw it a while ago when the BB version 4.5 didn't allow the option to "roam only"
You are probably in the middle of an area where Sprint built a tower that may not have been close to you, but it was close enough to turn off the ability to roam.
I have no idea where you are, so this is all just a hypothesis. But within it, I am speculating this is more of a square footage situation than a general coverage situation.
No, that's not how you do it with Sprint. He would have to call Sprint and have his account flagged for a PRL update then call *2 back for the PRL update to start.
To the OP: Verizon has been changing up a lot of things in regards to the integration of Alltel. A PRL update should get you up and running again.
I just did the update last week to most recent PRL so maybe they will get this fixed soon.

Yes, of course. I was just pointing out that Sprint doesn't use the *228 thing like most other CDMA carriers and being that the OP has an 8330 listed, I'm pretty sure that he doesn't have the ability to do OTA PRL updates from his phone.
I still have roaming on verizon... Sad to see all the roaming only options go though, that was nice.

Dumb question: ---> How do you check which company you're roaming on? Thanks :)
Every company roams off of specific networks. Sprin roams on verizon. I don't know what the other networks roam on though

I can check who I am roaming on by placing a 911 call to the 911 center I work at. It displays which companies tower I am using.
Not only do we have Verizon roaming, as Twins stated in a Verizon thread, Sprint will be roaming off 100% of the VZW towers at the end of this year/beginning of next year.
How do you do the PRL off the Pre? I been getting some wacky signals with this phone sometimes, when I text it gets 1 bar but when I am using EVDO it goes up 4 bars and its extremely fast, all while sitting in one spot....

which verizon thread is that Semantics?

We hear all the time that VZW's network is superior, and it is. The actual VZW network is vastly larger than Sprint's & VZW has more towers per customer than does Sprint - or any other major carrier (There's A Map For That). But what does that mean to the average cell phone customer? Not a whole lot, after recent agreements were signed. To be completed by the end of 2009 is a full roaming arrangement where Sprint customers can roam on 100% of VZW's network, minus the areas where the two carriers both have facilities. So if you're looking for a pro-VZW item in coverage, it is now effectively gone.
Advantage: Sprint (because of rate plans - below)
go to Phone Preferences and then click on Update PRL
Thanks. Semantics. I wonder why for right now at least I am roaming off a US Cellular tower that is probably close to a mile further away than the verizon tower.
