Are they both from Shop BlackBerry/Amazon?

In that case, it isn't T-Mobile.

I bought them from shop blackberry but even so I had to check for updates over WiFi instead of using the actual network

That's being pushed by BBerry, not t-mo. I have a shop BBerry phone offering me the same. My branded, no.

Precisely why I will never buy a branded phone again. I spent hours getting my z10 updated via Sachesi. I'm on 10.3.2.858. No wifi calling.

I left my unbranded on the last offical t-mo update to keep wifi-calling working. Upgraded my branded to 10.3.2xxx Took about five minutes, but it also wiped the phone. I need wifi-calling where I live. So, no choice.

Five minutes? The downloads took me half an hour. Reality check.

I have an unlocked Z30 bought by BlackBerry employee and I didn't get an update yet. Don't want to take out the computer....

Yeah, you should have gotten something. If not now, then something at least a month ago. Have you tried the "SIM card out, WiFi only" check trick?

There is a sim card in it but no service on it. I'll try taking it out and trying again. Thanks.

So, have you ever tried a SIM in it that worked? Or, have you checked to be sure that -- for whatever weird reason -- the phone is not locked? And, if it ism then locked to which carrier?

Don't have a sim to put in it and it was purchased from a BlackBerry employee through their portal.

Hmm OK. So this phone is somehow in the same ridiculous black hole that all the other unbranded non-ShopBB phones that should have gotten the update are in. So unless you have a Canadian SIM card real handy, there's no way to avoid using a computer

I would start with connecting my phone to BB Link and checking for an update through that program.
