You won't necessarily see any difference. See the post by 1 2 MaNy above. Updating the PRL updates the tower list in your phone. If you were already on the tower with the best signal, and no new tower with a better signal is on the new list, then updating the list wouldn't cause any change.

So I checked and my PRL is 60612. I see others have PRLs with higher numbers--are the higher number versions usually "better"?

I have an Airave at home so phone reception is great, but might a PRL update help data reception? Data reception at home now is spotty.

    Thanks!

Higher numbers are more recent. I don't know any downside to upgrading to the latest list.

I don't think 60651 is new, per se... I did a PRL update about a month and a half ago and I'm on 60651.

Your right. Its not "new" per say, but it is the newest PRL out on Sprint. I'm glad joetowel posted this info. Now the people (who don't know how to update their PRL) with reception problems outside their primary coverage area should be getting better service.

You are correct, its not the newest, but the latest.

I guess new udates come out every couple months or so, at least that seems to be the trend.

I just called and updated mine and my wifes berry's 2 days ago and it has since ended all our dropped calls (Knock on wood)! It is 60651. I also started receiving emails in html but my wife did not. Does anyone know why that may be?

my prl is 60614...that is current and up to date...get great coverage everywhere...spoke to 3 CS reps and a Sprint store mgr...all confirmed...they all say your PRL # is based on location, higher or lower number indicates location of your base location not upgrade version

I have 2 8330s from Sprint. I noticed at my parents' house one has signal and the other doesn't. The one with 60614 will roam freely on Appalachian Wireless' towers but the one with 60651 refuses to get a signal. Will cs push me back to a lower PRL if i call and request?

I can't see snoozininsomniac's device or carrier on WAP, but it sounds like he may not have a CDMA phone.
