    hello everyone.

sorry for sounding like such a newbie that i am. i purchased a blackberry 8900 last week and the seller mentioned that the phone is unlocked.

    1. Insert any sim card
    2. Scroll and select "Manage connections"
    3. Select "Turn all connections off"
4, Press "Escape" to go back to the "Home" screen
    5. Go to "Options" menu and select "Advanced options"
    6. Select "SIM card"
    7. Typing MEPD. You will not see text appear on screen while typing. This opens up a personalization menu

If all are set to "disabled" it's unlocked.

I just did that procedure with my Orange UK supplied BB 8900 and it says everything is disabled..... so I'll try an O2 sim in there and hopefully it will work if it is truly unlocked.
strange to get an unlocked phone... Will update here once I've tried it.

Yes - it runs on the wife's O2 SIM. Wonder if Orange UK realize they are shipping unlocked bb's
