I just got a job with verizon and will probably be moving to their service since they give a half off discount to their employees. I have a 8900 that I love but since Verizon doesnt currently have this phone, which phone do you recommend that I get after I sell my cherry 8900 and move to verizon?

Neither does the Storm, Curve 8330, etc..

Verizon + wifi doesn't mix too well.

well at Verizon you basically have the somewhat outdated 8330 and 8800 or the current gen Storm and tour thats it. So the choice is actually really simple. Tour all the way as things sit now. The storm is good but the tour beats it or matches it in every way in my opinion.

I recently came from t-mobile with the 8900 also and enjoyed the option of UMA, but I can't complain with my new tour as yet. Almost the same speeds as when I was on wifi. If there is a difference then it very minor. Only downside is I cant use data while making calls like UMA.

You have to pay no matter what at Verizon. So you won't have free internet even if you did just use WiFi. They make you pay for a data plan if you get a BB. So go for the Tour.

Your personal preference, 8900 801. Which ever BB you get (both Storm and Tour are great imo), you will enjoy imo, VZ's stellar reception. Of course, it depends on where you are at.

    You're getting half off, anyway.

I moved from T-Mobile to Verizon, and to be honest, the Wifi was useless to me on my Curve. Sure it was good when my phone picked UP Wifi (even in the middle of Manhattan). But the Tour is all I need for speed and reliability, it's very good.

You could do far worse than Verizon.

I'm very happy with T-Mobile and love their UMA service but longer term I'm not sure that Verizon isn't just going to smoke everyone with some of the direction they are going with their technology. Definitely a company to keep an eye on.

    Congratulations on your new job.

all carriers require a data plan for purchasing or even activating a BB or smartphone on their line at list in the US. and as VZW employee your getting half off soo the price will be better. sadly no BB on vzw has wifi but i believe the winmo devices do. not positive though. i never needed wifi when i was on vzw 3g is great. but so is 3g on ATT and wifi is great benefit.

Once you join VZW, try both models and make your best decision.
