I'm planning on switching over my current Verizon Q10 and having it run on Cricket Wireless since it has a CDMA and GSM radio. The question I have is it really as easy as just switching the Mobile Network from CDMA to GSM or are there more steps involved?

Well, the CDMA part you can just forget about: you're not going to get a Verizon Q10 on Cricket's CDMA network.

GSM...that is workable. Cricket's GSM bands are the same as AT&T's, which are: UMTS 850, 1900, LTE 2/4/5/17. The two UMTS bands are present in this phone, as is LTE b4. You will most likely get UMTS coverage unless you're in a select few places.

Just putting the sim in it will work (I used a verizon Q10 on ATT which is in essence the same thing) but don't expect any LTE. You'll get simply "4G".
