Kudos to VZW Customer Service again!!!
I am a firefighter here in my city. I was working an extrication the other night, and I managed to scratch (deeply!) the screen on my Curve. Still works just fine... it just looks bad, and is hard to browse on now.
Now... I'm a long-time customer, as well as VIP... BUT, #1, I just upgraded my wife to a Tour more than a year early on a secondary line (because the Samsung i760 was the worst phone EVER), and #2, the annual upgrade on MY line wasn't even due until December 20th.
Anyway, the day after I damaged the Curve, I emailed VZW through the website. 72 hours later, still no reply. So, this morning, I went to my closest VZW store. I went to high school with the manager there, but she wouldn't budge on letting me do anything other than a warranty claim on my phone.
Came home and called *611. I was on hold for about 5 minutes, spoke to Customer Service Rep Dwayne for about another 5 minutes... and I now have a sparkly new Storm2 9550 headed my way thanks to an early upgrade, two-year pricing, AND my VIP discount... all billed to me on my next regular bill! :D
Thinking I might just swing back by the store on my way to the gym and let my "friend" know that her store will never see another dime of my business.
Looks like this forum will be my new home for a while!!!
