Yes you can previously i was using my bold on fido, worked great. Now im using my Rogers bold 9700 on fido works perfect. Plus my t-mobile usa sim works great roaming of course on edge. As for AT&T it will work just like rogers as the AT&T bold 9700 share the same 3G bands. The t-mobile Bold 9700 has a different band 3G. So to confirm, yes an unlocked rogers 9700 will work on at&t.
side note on ordering online.. anyone know how long it takes to ship? I was just at my local store and the sales rep there doesnt even know when they are getting them in!
Ordered mine through Rogers today and is being shipped via UPS. Still haven't received my tracking number yet...so don't know when it's going to be sent out.
Yes you can use a Rogers 9700 on Fido, though as you said it needs to be unlocked. I suggest/recommend using HORIZON WIRELESS for your unlocking needs. Great company and very professional.
I aswell have Fido and currently use the curve but need the 3G thing so I don't miss emails or pins while I am talking and when I get off the phone don't need to be ambushed with emails and pins. Is the bold 9700 the only one with 3G and will the 3G work with Fido bb account.

Nope the original Bold is also 3G as well...should be able to get 3G on fido but that depends on Rogers and Fidos 3G bands...if they share the same band then yes it will work.
There are couple of threads floating around about this issue. Apparently the phone ships will pretty much everything required, except something is either missing or deliberately disabled to prevent access to the UMA set up screens.
One posting from a Rogers 'insider' indicated that he read an internal memo that stated there was a defect or flaw that is supposed to be fixed in future batches of phones, so there is faint hope that UMA will be supported in the future.
Thanx newpunk, now I have to figure a way to get the bold 9700, I love the curve but so want the 3G capabilities, do I have to change my data plan from fido or do I just put the sim card in and away it goes. And how did you get a bell bold work with fido, I thought the bell didn't have a sim card.
on fido you need to get a blackberry data plan they have 25$ 500 mb and 30$ 1gb and another one i cant remember...but you need to call them and change the data plan to the blackberry plan in order for your bbm and email and stuff to work
thank you about the bell thing, and I do have the 1 gb plan so you are saying I am all set - just get an unlocked 9700 and stick my sim card in and I can get data while I talk (3G)?
you might still need to call fido and make sure your 1gb plan is the specific 1gb plan (there both the same prices and stuff but the blackberry one allows you to use the berry funtions).....so make sure to call them and confirm that you are on the 1gb blackberry plan and tell them you are using a blackberry and you need the 1gb berry plan and they'll switch it over immediately if its not the correct one
and yes or when you switch to the 1gb berry plan you can just get the unlocked 9700 and throw in your sim card and you good to go it will work 3g and everything including all the blackberry functions
wicked thanx - I do have the 1gb bb plan because I can use bbm and all that.
Thank you everyone for your imput, last year I tried my friends unlocked bb 3g bold and it didn't work but I was on the original bb plan (40 bucks for 7mb) so now I just wanted to check before I bought a bold 9700 for 600 bucks and turned out it would be a waste.
but make sure if your using on fido network that you get either a rogers 9700 or the at&t one cuz the t-mobile 9700 will not give you 3g on fido network
