I don't send many mms messages but from taking the pic to the hourglass to go away it takes about 2 minutes.
About 1 minute after I select a name the message pops up and then I hit send and it takes about 1 minute if not more to get the message screen to tell me it has been sent.

I usually have about 35 mil in free space

I don't send that many myself, just sent one yesterday, and it took about as long as you described. Do they have to go through the Sprint Pic Mail system? And I always have above 30MB of free memory.

I believe it does have to go through the Sprint pic mail system...that's why it takes so long....plus file size makes a difference too

Mine never take that long to go through - have you checked the size of the images you're trying to send?

well the images are the ones i take with my phone.
they are set to large and it only has a 2mp camera.

i just figured if the phone can take the picture it can send the image just as easily.

    i guess not.

Well I have my images set be taken on the "Medium" size and Superfine quality. It takes between 5 - 10 seconds to send a pic on my phone. Oh yeah, and no spinning hourglass for me either.

yeah i just like the person to be able to see the big picture if uploaded to their phone.
i guess i have to stop worrying about what other people think, lol

I'm in the camp of I would rather send a good picture. I don't really care about the hour glass. I can do something else for a bit. The really long lags I have noticed are when you geotag one. Yowsa, try that. You will think the regular lag is lightning speed.

Seems to take forever even when you have decent coverage but still love sending pics.

What I have noticed is that it takes a long time if you take a picture and then send it. But you go to media > pictures > my pictures, browse to the one you want to send and send it that way it does not take as long.
This also seems to work for sending them through bbm.

Mine's set to Large/Superfine, and it never seems to take too long to actually do the upload, even without EVDO coverage, I've never gotten the hourglass... what seems to take a while is for the MMS to actually be recieved by my recipient, so my money's on the picmail system holding things up.

I was having the hourglass problem until I tried the method you mentioned above. No problem anymore, thanks! ;-)

Mine takes about 2 minutes to send a 1024x768 image in SuperFine quality. I'm living in an area with 1-3 bars.
