Your stance indicates that it's OK to cheat unless you get caught, just like the "big boys". But what you don't understand is that the "big boys" went to extreme lengths to cover up their crimes in order not to get caught.

And if you paid attention to what's going on in the world around you through the mass media (because looking out the window isn't enough), you would realize that the "big boys" of these companies get caught and nailed to the fullest extent possible.

I guess names such as Enron or Bernie Madoff just never crossed your path.

Your ignorance of the world really shines through.
you know nothing about me. so for you, ignorance is bliss. because if you truly knew who i was and the person i .am, you would be eating your words with the fork i'd provide. kthxbai

Yeah...sure thing buddy. I'm gonna tell you how to rip off the company I work for. Seeing as how I do work for VZW.....I think I have a pretty healthy knowledge on the terms of the contracts. So let me know if you want to keep talking about things you know nothing about.

This is all crazy... I dont want anything for free.. Hello I am still with Verzion. WHAT we should all be worried about is the missing HARD copy contracts................ ID theif

My friend would it be safe to say that you are on this site to find ways to save money, time, etc on your BB? Now you signed a contract some where. I think when you signed it they didn't think that you would hang out on a site like this and find ways to get stuff for free' Or get it cheaper some where eles.

Seems to me that you are just like the rest of the world. We all try to learn new things every day. Help other people out when we can, Save money for a better cause, etc...........

I hope you don't say well I did not start this site. Or that's crazy I still honer my contract each month. That is not true if you in any way got an app from any where other then your provider...Or happen to fall into using your phone as a modem..,ringtones,wallpaper.....Leaked BB 5.0 If you did not get it all from the provider you have then you went out of your contract..

I am also sure if your phone broke because of a 3rd party app that had nothing to do with your provider. You would call them or go in and say I have insurance where is my new phone.. You know you broke it not them. But you will wnt them to replace it......

I have no problem with people trying to work the system as long as it does not cause phycial harm to any one. Also I think the phones are much better then they were 5 years ago. The reason for that is people like us did the same thing sat around and found mistakes that the providers missed. They updated and got hipped to us just like they are now.. Can't wait to wht the phones are like in 2015 WOW... remember the ones in 1987?

You are hurting Verizon's profit. In turn the other customers have to pay for the lost profit through reduced phone incentive and/or higher fees.

Let's reverse the situation. You lost your copy of the contract. You call Verizon and Verizon pulls out a 20-year contract that they claim you signed. How do you like Verions taking advantage of your lost contract situation.

From your picture you look young and don't pay tax yet. Ask your parents if they want to pay higher taxes to subsidize the people who game the tax code. Or pay higher insurance because other cheat the insurance systems.

Im not on this site to save money! If I install a third party app or theme or whatever and it "breaks" my phone it will NOT be calling or taking it into vzw to get fixed or replaced. I fix it myself unlike the majority of people that have had issues. They blame verizon or RIM for something that was caused by the user. They look for ways to get back at vzw in anyway they can. Its really pretty lame and petty. You guys that are trying to rip VZW off just make it more costly for the rest of us honest customers.

No, you have your copy why do you need to see Verizon's copy. You and Alex used that as an excuse to get out of the contract. That's from first post.

Ehhhh I like the thinking but then again I will probably just wait for an upgrade. Yes I understand you are breaking contract because of the disclaimer, but you shouldn't have to tell Verizon "you can't afford it so let me out" then turn around and buy a new phone and sign back up.

I have got an idea. Pay the upgrade fee, or wait for NE2 lol.
now why the hedoublehockeysticks would someone want to actually do the right thing? They rather cheat, steal, lie, make things up, etc etc to get something for less or for free. Again, there all lame.

this is a true posting and I have experienced it. Here's the catch though It has to be an error on behalf of the phone company and you have 30 days to call them on it. Also you have to notify the credit company even though it didnt affect your credit. Overall I dont think its worth it unless you plan on leaving this company altogether. Also if you can remember earlier this year I was flippin through the channels and saw one of those credit specialist talking about it thats how I found out about it. A customer service rep will and have to explain this to you if you ask them.

People need to get a grip!

Honestly, let the OP do whatever he/she wants to do. They may or may not get away with it.

The only reason most of you a acting as if the OP said he/she was going to run over a liter of puppies, is because you dont have the nerve enough to do it yourself! If VZW had the contract written in a way that would allow the customer to avoid an ETF under certain circumstances, so be it. Get over it!

Nothing to do with that. When people screw with the system for their own gains, it screws all the honest paying people who take part in the company. It's a chain reaction. People need to think 2 steps ahead beyond their own selfishness

So instead of ranting like a 10 year old, think about why people are upset by posts like this that thousands of people may have seen already and may try stunts like this.

May I POINT OUT SOMEHTING, the OP would be following the guidlines of the VZW contract, so there is nothing really wrong with it. If the OP ends up with a deposite or having to pay the ETF when trying to open a new acct, then that is their problem to deal with. Get a life.

I have a question for everyone. Can you honestly say tht you have NEVER lies for you own good? Can you honestly say that you have never stolen ANYTHING? Maybe as small as a pen or a quarter, but if its not your then its stealing.

So you think if vzw over charged you they would call you and day hey sir we screwed up here's some money? I doubt it. I an sure someone will say that's wht they did for me". Does this make it right to lie to them? No, but what is wrong with using a lopsided system to your advantage once n a while?

It doesn't cost them anything to cut your service off. The only reason that etf is there is too keep you in your contract. If you cancel and pay the etf they LOSE money. If you bill is 130 a month and your 12 months in and you cancel they still LOSE money(two contract). The only way you would make them lose money is if your 22 months in(but of your that deep why not wait till the end). A 130 plan in a two year contract is worth 3160. Something to think about.

I still would not want to go through the treble of changin
g numbers not to mention the two hour phone call to vzw. Come to think of it they may offer you an upgrade to keep you. Retention can do some nice things for people.

I have never lied to vzw to save a buck, not because I wouldn't, just never has to. Me and my wife have been with them for two years now, not had one problem that they didn't help me fix or fix them selves.

And you know for a fact that I am NOT a small business owner how? What? Because my opinion and view on this differs a little from yours?

I understand your position on the topic - naturally, no one is in business to take a loss, beit a small business or an enterprise - everyone's in it to make money. That said, no one (and I mean no one) is going to shed tears if VZW were to lose money on a few phones/plans/contracts.

To play devil's advocate, however, I don't agree with these ridiculous schemes that people try to conceive just to avoid having to pay whatever the price is for a new device, much less work their way out of a cotract that they willingly agreed to in an effort to manipulate the system.

As an attorney, I appreciate the info the OP provided. I haven't analyzed this particular method thoroughly, but at first glance, it appears to be within the rules, so to speak.

Some of you are being heavy handed about the "moral" issues. I'm not sure how to gauge the moral sentiment of this board when so many people on this board feel "guilty" about things such as returning a defective phone within 30 days as provided for in your contract. How many people did not return their Tour once or multiple times to obtain a satisfactory phone because they felt guilty? Comb through the threads and you'll see plenty.

VZ had the bargaining power to draft its own contract language. VZ has used this contract language multiple times over the years to screw its customers. One instance I remember is that when I signed with VZ, it had free minutes on major holidays, which for many of us was a huge deal. VZ then removed that feature with no recompense. The new higher smartphone insurance rates are another issue (I realize a 3rd party insurer is involved but that's immaterial for the sake of discussion).

As for the possibility of customers being shafted as a result of some people taking advantage of the loopholes, one question is whether enough people will take advantage to cause VZ to change its policies. If not, no harm.

Why would they turn down a customer wanting a new probably $200 phone with a $30 a month data plan? Thats $720 in data for the 2 years plus the initial price for the phone they would be turning down almost $1000. Not going to happen.
I don't know if you know this, but there are people that pay WAY more than a little $720 for two years of data...that really isn't going to hurt vzw.
