To get to the point, I live in Australia and am looking to import a Curve 8530 as it is not available here (we have no CMDA network), and I'd rather it over the 8520 because it supports 3G and GPS.
QUESTIONS ARE:
Will the Curve 8530 work in Australia off our 3G network? will the lack of a CDMA network cause any problems?
As I'd have to import this phone from America, most likely locked, will unlocking it be an issue seeing as I'm in Australia and without a SIM card of the original Service Provider? (I've heard the MEP menu will not appear without the correct SIM). Also the US seems to have stricter laws in terms of unlocking phones, from what I've read.
And, out of interest, does the 8530 require a SIM card? If no, how can it support 3G?
