Going back for a short 2 week visit.

Besides buying a local sim card, unlocking my Z30 which would ultimately be the cheapest way to go, what are my options of using wifi and a roaming package for Hong Kong and Philippines?

It would be nice to keep my local number so I can make and receive calls and also text. I would like to have some data so I can receive emails and bbm.

What the best way to keep my data use low? How can I stop programs form auto loading and refreshing which uses a lot of data?

Short of turning data off - you really can't limit what uses data and what doesn't. You could do things like sign out of Facebook and Twitter - turn push off on email accounts - set polling to 30 minutes - etc -- but there's no "let this app talk and this one not".

As for how much it will cost you - minimum of $40:

If your on the 10.2.1 leak you could download the Rogers one app and use that to make calls when your on wifi. It should be free but I would turn off the mobile network just in case
